Not an empty nest

We spent nine days traveling to Murphy, North Carolina to do those inevitable things like taxes, dentist, doctor, etc. and get a load of tools and other items needed to do this engine and generator swap.  Thank you to Davis for letting us rent our old truck back for the summer.  It sure will come in handy for trips to the store here in Demopolis, trips back to Murphy, and a trip to New York to visit Ray's family this summer.  When we returned last night, we noticed long pieces of dead grass, sticks, etc. on the boat but just thought it must have gotten windy at some point while we were gone and blew those things onto the boat.

It wasn't until today that Ray told Linda to come outside when she had a spare minute to see her new friends that we discovered a bird obviously built a nest in our fishing net that hangs from the aft deck ceiling while we were gone.

Linda's first question was if there was an egg in the nest.  So Ray took the net down to see that there was one egg in the nest.  Therefore, we put the net back like it was.  Later Ray heard a bird raising cain outside, so went to check it out and found a bird tangled in the net.  It did get out on it's own.  It will be interesting to find out if this arrangement will work out or not.

Today's big project was tearing the carpet and wood flooring out of the galley.  You can see this existing carpeted hatch, which is where the generator is located and will have to come out of that hole.  However, the new generator is bigger, so Ray is going to revamp the floor hatch and make it bigger.
