Long Overdue

Should not have bragged about no bugs.  I think it jinxed us.  While writing the last blog out on the upper deck right at night fall, I heard a sound like millions of bugs swarming, but none were bothering me.  I went to bed and told Ray of the strange noise.  When we awoke on Monday morning, May 19, those millions of bugs were on our boat.  Literally.  They are nicknamed blind mosquitoes.  Thankfully they do not bite, but they sure make a mess.
We got underway at 8:00 a.m. thinking they would blow away once the boat was moving.  No such luck.  So we vacuumed.  All day.
This is a very small section of the boat and this was after vacuuming.
We planned on anchoring out again, but decided to go to Hontoon Island State Park where we could dock with power and water for $20.00.  We needed to get these bugs washed off.  Of course as I check in Ray notices a big sign that says the water is not to be used to wash boats.  Rules were meant to be broken, right?  There was no way we could not wash this mess off the boat.  Unfortunately, with our focus on that, we did not get to explore the island that is supposed to be so spectacular.
Hard to see it, but there was a gator laying in the lily pads at the bow of our boat.
Tuesday morning we got underway at 8:30.  A few hours later we pulled into the east basin at Monroe Harbor Marina in Sanford, Florida.  The downtown has improved quite tremendously since we lived and worked here 20 years ago.
We didn't stay in Sanford long, but the boat did.  On Thursday we hopped in a rental car and drove to Chattanooga and Murphy to take care of all of those annual appointments.  We were kind of in a hurry as we were still anticipating getting this boat delivery job the next week.
We are back at the boat for a week now and still waiting on getting this boat delivery job.  We are staying here as we believe this to be the most convenient place to stay.  Our stay might be extended even longer if Ray also gets anticipated home building jobs in Murphy.  Believe it or not, this is just about the closest we can get on this side of the country.  With flights from here to Chattanooga also, just seems more reasonable.  Stay tuned.
