Well, I got all prepared for Doug to make breakfast on the grill in the cast iron skillet as per the plans made last night. Ray decided to try diagnosing the generator problem just about the time I had everything ready. He says he did nothing besides take the electrical panel off and check that all wires were ok. It was miraculously working. We all laughed wondering if alcohol had anything to do with the problem last night.
Therefore, I made breakfast on the cooktop. It was a yummy combination of Doug's deer sausage he brought, potatoes, onions, broccoli and tomatoes topped with an egg and cheese. Once our bellies were full, we were dropping the line off the mooring ball about ten minutes prior to nine o'clock. "Septembre" was not far behind us. It didn't take long for them to overtake us.
There was quite a large pod of dolphins in our first sound. What a sight to see when you're only in about six feet of clear water. The water depth stayed that way most of the day, changing in color from to green when we were over the grass, to blue over the sand. At one point we drove right over top of a large spotted eagle sting ray. Another sight to behold.
It took us less than five hours today to go just over 27 miles. We are anchored in the northeast corner of Blackwater Sound near Gilberts Resort in Key Largo.
After a nap by Doug and a little bit of paperwork for us, we dinghied over to Gilberts. On the way we stopped by "Septembre" to let them know of our plans. We got some gas for the dinghy before picking the perfect palapa to sit under and look out over "The Second Noelle" at anchor with a few other smaller boats. Chicken wings and beer were enjoyed before and after Claude and Pascale arrived.
We made our way back to the main ship for sunset which was spoiled by clouds, but still a beautiful day and evening.
